About

The Museum of Popular Beliefs presents the popular intangible heritage of the Velay countries of Gevaudan and the rural world in general: peasant medicine, witchcraft, tales, legends, superstitions, etc. These ancient beliefs preserved by ethnographic research are presented to the public in the form of figurines, dioramas and paintings in typical scenery of the country. This museum is located at the Monastier-sur-Gazeille castle in Haute-Loire.

The museum was designed and created by Patrice Rey, a visual artist and screenwriter. He is responsible for research, texts, illustrations, figurines, scenography and the creation of books from this work. Patrice Rey today offers guided tours of the museum by appointment, school and extracurricular interventions, as well as various lectures and animations around the tale.

The Hauteur d'Homme editions publish books written by Patrice Rey.
