The château-musée de Gien, houses the museum "Chasse histoire et nature en Val-de-Loire" located in Gien in the French department of Loiret in the region Centre-Val de Loire. History: When the city of Gien was in the midst of reconstruction after the bombings of the Second World War, Pierre-Louis Ducartre, principal inspector of the Musées de France, wished to create a museum dedicated to hunting and to install it in the castle of Gien. The theme of hunting is justified by the location of the city of Gien between the forests of the natural regions of Sologne and Puisaye which are territories where hunting is an ancestral tradition.
