The Aix-en-Provence Natural History Museum is a French natural history museum located in Aix-en-Provence, in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Founded by geologist Henri Coquand in 1838, this museum had been housed since 1950 in the prestigious Hotel Boyer-d-Eguilles, a 17th-century historical monument in which the famous Aixese botanist Joseph Pitton of Tournefort lived. Until 2014, it welcomed 30,000 visitors every year to admire its impressive paleontological, zoological and ethnographic collections.
