fontaine d'eau chaude
The hot water fountain, also known locally as a soft fountain (although there are several soft fountains in Aix), is a spa water fountain (non-drinking), located on the top of Cours Mirabeau, in Aix-en-Provence, in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, France. The city of Aix is known to house more than 130 fountains; ancient architectural tradition of the city, since the double threat of armed sieges in the 16th century and epidemics of the 17th century. This source is the first fountain built on the Cours Mirabeau.
It is also the only fountain that is still fed by water from the Baths of Bagniers. Its water (non-drinking) is at 18 °C all year round, promoting the development of certain aquatic plants whose photosynthesis results in the precipitation of limestone travertine giving shape to this fountain.
