About

The Pont Neuf or Pont Neuf is, despite its name, currently the oldest existing bridge in Paris. It crosses the Seine at the western tip of the island of La Cité. Built from the end of the 16th century and finished at the beginning of the 17th century, it owes its name to the novelty of a homeless bridge at the time, with sidewalks protecting pedestrians from mud and horses.

It is also the first stone bridge in Paris to cross the Seine. Today's recommended graphic is "the New Bridge," but it has long been written: "the New Bridge". This monument has been classified as historical monuments since 1889.

In 1991, he was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with all the banks of the Seine in Paris. This site is served by line 7 at Pont-Neuf Metro Station.
