History: The Bourdeau family property, purchased by the city in 1938, was completely renovated in 1992. This property is located 20 Velpeau Street and listed as historical monuments. This Second Empire style house, in the heart of the park, appears on Antony's plans after 1860. It was acquired in 1894 by Madame de Livio, widow of a former consul of France. Their son Auguste de Livio, diplomat, minister plenipotentiary, retained the property until his death in 1931. Charles Bourdeau, son-in-law of the diplomat, who lives in Antony, inherits. It became communal property in 1967. Occupied by the municipal library for more than twenty years, it was renovated in 1991.
Current situation: The building is now the "Maison des arts", a cultural place dedicated to public awareness of the visual arts. The exhibition rooms cover three levels of 120 m2 each. A second building of 130 m2, the "Winter Garden", welcomes conferences and varnishing. The Maison des arts is also open to traditional salons: the Cultural and Artistic Circle...
