Vertical-lift bridge
pont Jacques-Chaban-Delmas
The Jacques-Chaban-Delmas Bridge in Bordeaux is a rising bridge crossing the Garonne between the stone bridge and the Aquitaine Bridge. It is located in the extension of the Rue Lucien-Faure and connects the quay of Bacalan to the wharf of Brazza, north of La Bastide, hence its original name of Bacalan-Bastide bridge. The city council of Bordeaux decided on 22 October 2012 to name it "Jacques Chaban-Delmas", the former mayor of Bordeaux.
The work took place from October 2009 to the end of December 2012. The building was put into service and opened for circulation on Monday, 18 March 2013, two days after its inauguration. The operation and maintenance of the work is the responsibility of Eiffage.
