Bridge
pont de Bonpas
The Bonpas bridge on the Durance connects the south of Vaucluse to the north of Bouches-du-Rhône. This place of passage between Avignon and Noves was first a ford under prehistory. This Maupas was terrible enough to be assimilated to the Tarasque which was discovered here.
A first stone Romanesque bridge was built there before being carried away by the waves. A trailing ferry was replaced there until under the Empire, then a suspended bridge and finally a stone bridge allowing the passage of RD 907. Since then, it has been doubled by a second bridge along Highway A7.
