About

The bridge of Europe is a bridge in arc bowling inclined French crossing the Loire between Orléans, Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle to the north and Saint-Pryvé-Saint-Mesmin to the south, in the department of Loiret and the region Centre-Val de Loire. It is the fifth road bridge in service on the Loire in the Orléanese agglomeration; The other four are upstream, the René Thinat Bridge, the George V Bridge, the Marshal-Joffre Bridge (1958) and the A71 Bridge on the Loire River. It was inaugurated on 20 November 2000 in the presence of Lionel Jospin, then Prime Minister. The fineness of the metal arch inclined on the edge of the apron, the elegance of the cable suspension, the original drawing of its supports in the Loire supporting the apron, and the major role played by the twist in the general functioning of the structure are the main elements that characterize this work.
