Poype de Villars-les-Dombes

The castral motte of Villars or Poype de Villars is a 10th century earth fortification that stands on the town of Villars-les-Dombes, in the department of Ain, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Villars was the center of a seigneury, then a baronie, a county and finally a marquisat. The castral mot is classified as historical monuments by order of 15 February 1905.
