site paléontologique de Champblanc
The paleontological site of Champblanc is located in the gypsum quarries of the commune of Cherves-Richemont, in the French department of Charente, about ten kilometers northeast of the town of Cognac. This deposit produces many species of fish, reptiles, dinosaurs and even mammals, from the lower to medium Berriasian (lower Cretaceous), about 145 to 142 Ma (million years ago), a period of low fossils, including mammals. The entire fossil heritage extracted will be managed and preserved by the museums of Angoulême and Cognac.
