About

The Théâtre d'Orsay is a late theatre located in Paris, on the left bank of the Seine, in the 7th arrondissement. It was inaugurated in 1972 in the former Orsay station originally designed by architect Victor Laloux in 1898. Jean-Louis Barrault installed a demountable wooden structure and presented a wide variety of performances.

The best public successes will be The wind of the Balearic Islands by Paul Claudel, Isabella Morra by André Pieyre de Mandiargues, Thus spoke Zarathustra from the work of Nietzsche, Les Nuits de Paris by Restif de la Bretonne, or Zadig from Voltaire. However the station must be liberated to become the museum of Orsay, dedicated to the 19th century. In 1981, the troupe emigrated to the Palace of Glace, which then became the theatre of the Rond-Point; Barrault re-installed the wooden structure of the Orsay theatre.
