tombe de Sitarane
The tomb of Sitarane is a funerary monument of Réunion Island, French overseas department and region in the southwest Indian Ocean. Tomb supposed to house the remains of the criminal Sitarane, who was executed in 1911, is located in the cemetery of Saint-Pierre, a cemetery located along Hubert-Delisle Boulevard, in the city centre of Saint-Pierre. Actually, the grave would be empty.
Painted with a bright red, it is remarkable by the religious beliefs and practices associated with it and which make it a high place of witchcraft in Réunion: occult ceremonies are held regularly, almost every day, with food and alcohol offerings. Photographs of people who are cast a bad fate are also deposited in numbers.
