viaduc ferroviaire de Sully-sur-Loire
The viaduct of Sully-sur-Loire is a French viaduct that crosses the Loire River and connects the municipalities of Sully-sur-Loire on the left bank of the river, and Saint-Père-sur-Loire on the right bank, in the Loiret department and the Centre-Val de Loire region. The bridge is used for rail traffic until 2011.
The viaduct was built between 1877 and 1880 by H. Joret and Cie. In 1894, the Écho des mines et de la métallurgy gave Joret a complete overview of its achievements, under which the Sully Bridge was featured. Originally, the Auxy-Juranville Line - Bourges borrows the viaduct. The railway link between Beaune-la-Rolande and Argent-sur-Sauldre, via Sully-sur-Loire, was opened for traffic in 1882. In January 1985, during the cold destruction of the Sully-sur-Loire road bridge located 290 m upstream, the viaduct batteries allowed the installation of a Bailey bridge. This emergency bridge was pushed from the right bank of the river (Saint-Père-sur-Loire side), on the downstream part of the piles, remained free. This temporary bridge was opened for car traffic in March 1985, and remained in place until the bridge was re-established.
