villa de Saint-Laurent-d'Agny
The villa of Saint-Laurent-d-Agny is a villa of Roman and medieval period (I century BC - 10th century) located at the place called Goiffieux or Goiffy on the commune of Saint-Laurent-d'Agny in the Rhone, searched between 2008 and 2011 under the auspices of the Université Lumière Lyon 2. Its wine and winemaking facilities are among the oldest in Roman Gaul; its architecture (peristyle, monumental basins, private baths) and its ornamentation (bassins, mosaic, murals) are located in the territory of the Lugdunum colony; It is preceded by a Gallic farm and will give birth in the early Middle Ages to a paleo-Christian place of worship associated with a small necropolis.
