The Tiger tank of Vimoutiers is a German Tiger tank of the Second World War, exposed to the exit of Vimoutiers in the northeast of Orne (France). This tank was abandoned by his servants in August 1944 during the last days of the Battle of Normandy. Left abandoned until the mid-1970s in a road ditch, it was recovered by the commune of Vimoutiers to avoid its scrapping. Its exterior is then summarily restored and it has since been exposed outside the city. It was classified as a historical monument with object title on 2 December 1975. The char suffering the outrages of time, a restoration project has been studied since 2016 before being finally abandoned in 2025 against the financial cost for the commune.
History: Tiger I (Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger) is probably the best known German tank of the Second World War, although only 1,350 copies were produced.
