Church building
église Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption de Vauréal
The church Our Lady of the Assumption is a parish Catholic church located in Vaureal, Val-d'Oise, France. The parish was erected in 1253, but the first church was burned by the English in 1432 during the Hundred Years War. It was replaced by a new flamboyant Gothic building, which was probably built in the late 15th century.
At the time of the signing in 1561, most of the church was probably completed for several years, but the bell tower and facade were Renaissance-style and probably later. The vaults of the nave and its sides have never been realized. Notre Dame Church has been listed as a historic monument since 1926.
It responds to a very simple plan, and architecturally presents nothing particularly remarkable, but is quite homogeneous and representative of the reconstructions after the Hundred Years' War. Some items of furniture are interesting. Since the inauguration of the Church of St.Claire in Vaureal in 1995, the Church of Notre-Dame has been relegated to the background, and Sunday evening Masses are currently celebrated.
