Notre-Dame de la Seds (Aix-en-Provence)

The Notre-Dame-de-la-Seds church is located in Aix-en-Provence, within the perimeter of the former city of Les Tours. It was rebuilt in 1853 by architect Henri Révoil on the foundations of a much older church, perhaps the oldest in Aix, dating back to the fourth century, when Aix was a Roman town and had the name Aquae Sextiae. This church has long been the metropolitan church of Aix and has housed the relics of Mitre d'Aix, a Christian martyr who died in Aix.
