About

Saint-François de Salles Church is a 19th-century Catholic church built in the commune of Faucigny, France. It is dedicated to Saint Francis de Sales.

Location: The church is located at the capital of the commune of Faucigny, in the French department of Haute-Savoie. This church is one of the steeples of the parish of La Trinité in the Pays des Voirons. The latter depends on the dean of Faucigny in the diocese of Annecy.

History: A primitive church existed near the castle, to the east. A second was then built to the northeast. Originally, the parish church was dedicated to Saint Ymier, a monk from the Jura, but during the seventeenth century he was associated with the famous local saint apostle of the laity, Francis de Sales (1567-1622), canonized in 1665 and attested here from 1679. In the 19th century, the parish of Faucigny was reunited with that of Peillonnex. As the church had disappeared, a new one was built at the capital in 1854.

Description: The new church built during the 19th century has a dome. In 1867, the interior decoration was entrusted to the painter J.B Ferraris. They were restored in 2003.
