About

Saint-Pierre Church is a parish Catholic church located in Genainville, France. It is one of the few double-nave churches in the region, and it has the only choir hall in the 13th century of the French Vexin, the others being, for the most part, located around the Oise valley. The perfectly symmetrical Renaissance façade is attributed to Jean Grappin, and dates from the mid-16th century.

This is the last part built, after the completion of the nave. Although only slightly older, it still displays the flamboyant Gothic style, except for some vault keys. The arch capitals, on the other hand, date from the beginning of the thirteenth century, and remain from the previous church.

This is probably also the case of bell tower piles and arcades, which could even go back to the 12th century, and were only brought to light in the second quarter of the 16th century. As for the square choir of twice two spans, it represents the most remarkable part of the church, and constitutes the main testimony of the radiant Gothic architecture in this area of the department. Saint Peter's Church has been listed as a historic monument since 1920.
