Saint-Pierre-du-Marais Church is a Catholic church located in Saumur, France. Behind the classic façade of the 17th century is a beautiful building that is part of both Romanesque art and Gothic architecture known as "Plantagenet" (XIIe-XIIIe s.), with heavily curved vaults. The furniture includes a remarkable series of 15th century stalls. There is also the Baptistery which was used for the baptism of Saint Jeanne Delanoue (1666 - 1736), a religious founder of the Congregation of the Servants of the Poor of the House of Providence, canonized on October 31, 1982 by Pope John Paul II.
Location: The church is located in the French department of Maine-et-Loire, in the commune of Saumur.
History: The building was classified as historic monuments in 1862. In 1674, the facade and part of the massif gave way because of a settlement of the foundations. It was rebuilt in the 17th century in the style of the Counter Reformation.
