église Saint-Sylvestre de Jailly
The Church of Saint-Sylvestre in Jailly (Nièvre) is a Romanesque church dating from the 12th century. Presenting a sober architecture with a stairway construction compensating for the slope of the land, it is classified as historical monuments by the list of 1840. In the Folklore de France, Paul Séblot writes: "A number of churches have been built in a prodigiously short space of time, by legendary characters [...] It is above all the fairies who build the churches [...] The fairies have not managed to finish the church of Jailly before midnight, and since then we have tried vainly to resume their work.
