About

Saint Vincent de Mantet Church is a Romanesque church located in Mantet, France. Dedicated to Saint Vincent, it was consecrated in September 1102 by the Bishop of Elne and the Prior of Sainte-Marie de Corneilla-de-Conflent and placed under this dual apostolic authority. It is from this time that the original constructions from which the first level of the abside remains, assembled in quite large granite blocks, and the walls of the north and west sides can be dated.

The bell tower was built later over the abside. It is an arcade bell tower with two 19th-century cast iron bells. On the first is inscribed: "Sit namem domini benedictum Mantet Jean Baptiste 1818, Decharme fondeur.

» On the second, which comes from the foundry Louison Bishop and Amans Gendre successor, in Toulouse, we can read the inscription: "Sit namem domini benedictum. Sponsor Vincent Vidal, deputy. Marraine Marie Vidal, donors.

Curé Sarradeill, Mayor J. Ricard, 1878. » Before entering the church, to the left of the entrance door, there is a curious vestige.
