About

The Caen Memorial is a museum in Caen dedicated to the history of the twentieth century and peace, and labeled "Musée de France". He is a member of the International Network of Museums for Peace. In 2002, the museum expanded with the opening of a new wing dedicated mainly to the Cold War.

The two museum routes combined cover the years from 1919 to 1989, from the Treaty of Versailles to the fall of the Berlin Wall. In 2009 and 2010, the Caen Memorial renovated its course by opening four new visitor spaces: "World War, Total War" and "The Landing and Battle of Normandy" in the part dedicated to World War II, "Berlin at the Heart of the Cold War" in the part dedicated to the Cold War. Since 2006, the Memorial has been constantly changing, with permanent journeys changing every year.

The Memorial also looks at the world's news. It regularly organizes public events such as conferences, meetings, symposia, temporary exhibitions and competitions for the defence of human rights.
