About

The new parish church is located in Saint-Tugdual, France.

Location: The church is located in the territory of the commune of Saint-Tugdual, in the department of Morbihan in Brittany.

The new church was built in 1961 by architect Claubert de Cléry by reusing as much as possible the materials of the old church, but its orientation is different from the latter so that its main facade aligns with the town square. Its windows were designed by the Quimper workshop Le Bihan. The bell tower, separated from the church, is composed of a square granite tower, topped by a balustrade, an openwork polygonal drum and a very fine slate arrow. A monumental fresco by Gyan Meer (with his real name Yannig Guillevic), the washing of the feet (oil on canvas, 4 m x 6 m) was installed in the church choir in 2006 ; blessed by the bishop of Vannes, Raymond Centène, monumental painting is the result of a commission from the parish committee. Each year, during Holy Thursday, a ceremony of foot washing is celebrated by the Rector Henri Goyallon.
