About

The former Saint Martin Church is a historical monument located in Illfurth, in the French department of Haut-Rhin.

History: The sanctuary was first a chapel dedicated to Saint Nicholas and then to Saint Martin. It was in the Middle Ages the mother church of Illfurth, Heidwiller and Tagolsheim, and remained until the 18th century the parish church of Illfurth. The building has been classified as historic monuments since 1991.

Architecture: The classified part is the old tower built around 1300, decorated with wall paintings in the 15th century and transformed in 1742 into a bell tower of a church destroyed in 1971.
