About

The Sainte-Anne church in Montpellier is a former parish church located in Montpellier, France. Originally built in the 13th century, it was destroyed for the first time during religious wars in the 16th century. It was rebuilt in 1665, but because of its dangerous nature, it was destroyed again in 1865.

The current church was built in 1869 or 1872 by architect Jean Cassan. It was desecrated in 1986 and became a cultural place in 1991 under the name "Carré Sainte-Anne". Closed to the public in 2017, it underwent major renovations from 2023 to 2025.

In a neo-Gothic style, it peaks at 69 m high, making it the highest monument in the city centre of Montpellier.
