Catholic cathedral
cathédrale Saint-Étienne de Meaux
Saint-Étienne de Meaux Cathedral is a Catholic place of worship located in Meaux, in the French department of Seine-et-Marne in the Île-de-France region. The building of this cathedral begins in the 12th century and ends four centuries later, in the middle of the 16th century. This long expectation is partly explained by the Hundred Years' War and the English occupation of the city. The main attractions of this cathedral are its choir, the great elevation of its five ships, the flamboyant tower that overcomes it, the brightness of the interior, the rich ornamentation of the transept, the tomb of Jacques-Bénigne Bossuet and the tint of the stone with which it was built.
