Faugas Castle is a castle and wine estate located in the commune of Gabarnac, in the department of Gironde, France.
History: The oldest parts, built on the site of a Gallo-Roman site, date from the 13th century, when the castle was a strong house. In the 16th century, the buildings were restored and enlarged. They were added an additional wing, as well as a dungeon and two corner towers. Subsequently, the castle underwent other transformations including the reconstruction of agricultural parts in the 18th century. Today, he always proudly sets up his three towers and his old dungeon, from which one can enjoy an extraordinary panorama of this hilly region of the right bank of the Garonne.
During its history, the castle belonged to several owners, two of whom entered the history of the Gironde, the Duke of Epernon in the seventeenth century and the Marquis d'Alon in the eighteenth century. After belonging to the Beausoleil baron family, the estate passes into the Berckmans family, which has owned it for nearly a century and gave a mayor to the commune of Gabarnac.
