monument à Danton
The Monument to Danton is a bronze sculpture group made by Auguste Paris in 1891. The monument represents the congressman of the Convention and revolutionary Georges-Jacques Danton in haranguer the people. The statue was commissioned by the city of Paris in 1887 to commemorate the centenary of the French Revolution of 1789.
A competition was organised which chose Auguste Paris' project. The bronze was melted by Thiebaut. The pedestal was made by architect Alexandre Lépouzé.
The monument is located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, Place Henri-Mondor at 97 boulevard Saint-Germain.
