About

La Chaussée Jules César is a Roman route linking Lutèce (Paris) to Rotomagus (Rouen) and Caracotinum (Harfleur) via Rotomagus (Rouen) and Juliobona (Lillebonne). It is part of the four Via Agrippa built by Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa of the time of Emperor Augustus in the form of a branch of Via Agrippa de l'Océan. We could find a relay there every 15 km.

The mail could thus be sent from Paris to Rouen in one day. Most of its route in the department of Eure has been taken over since 1824 by the current road 6014. In the Val-d'Oise that it crosses in a straight line, the route in the French Vexin is for the most part of its route a path of cross or hiking path.

In the urban areas of Cergy-Pontoise and the Montmorency Valley, its route is mainly used as a local service route.
