Vallée des Merveilles

The Merveilles Valley is a valley in the Mercantour Mountains, in the region of Monte Bégo, in the French commune of Tende. A place of a high concentration of engravings, the Wonders Valley itself is located in the archaeological area of Wonders and gave its name to the rock art site. The latter extends on both sides of Mount Bégo (or Bego, according to the Italianized print) and has some 36,000 prehistoric rock engravings, dated from the Neolithic and the Ancient Bronze Age, in the midst of other more recent engravings.
