Theater building
The Grand Théâtre de Lyon, commissioned by the Consulate and built by Jacques-Germain Soufflot, is an old building located at the old location of the gardens of the Lyon City Hall. Inaugurated in 1756, it was destroyed by fire in 1826. The name "Grand Théâtre" also refers to the building that replaced it in 1831, now known as Lyon Opera.
