The castellas de Montoulieu is a medieval fortress in ruins located at the top of a hill on the municipality of the same name.

History: Between the 12th and 13th centuries, Castellas was the heart of a typical Mediterranean castral village. The appearance of the castrum in the texts is dated, through the mentions of the castle in 1178 and the village in 1292. The lords from the site (the family "de Montoulieu") share power with the lords of Laroque or Ganges, but also with aristocrats, dam birds from manses (farm) scattered in the Alzon valley. Overall, these buildings were likely established between 1150 and 1250 before being deserted for simple storage. The castellas de Montoulieu has been registered under the Historic Monuments since February 2025.
