Grotte des Demoiselles

The cave des Demoiselles is located in the Thaurac massif in the Hérault valley near Ganges, in the Hérault department, Occitanie. The knowledge of the cave goes back to time immemorial. A first exploration was conducted on 15 July 1780 by Benoît-Joseph Marsollier des Vivetières.

The visit that made it possible to really know her dates back to 1889 when Édouard-Alfred Martel, famous speleologist, committed himself to it. The visit was then perilous. It was built in 1931.

It has since been open to the public. Its entrance is located in the commune of Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois.
