About

The Mosson Stadium is a football stadium in Montpellier, France. Since the 1998 World Cup, its official name has been Mosson World Stadium 98. Inaugurated in 1972, it has been the resident stadium of Montpellier Hérault Sport Club, Montpellier's main football team since 1974.

Managed by Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, it has undergone numerous renovations. All the stands at the current stadium were built between 1988 and 1997, bringing its capacity to 35,500 seats and allowing it to host the World Cup. The last renovation was in 2007 for the Rugby World Cup, and its capacity was reduced to 32,900 seats.

Fourteenth French stadium in the number of seats offered, the enclosure is also used for rugby matches to XV. Located in the district of La Paillade, it owes its name to the nearby Mosson River, whose floods, during cevenol storms, can cause damage to the stadium. Since then, its capacity for the Montpellier HSC championship football matches has been reduced to 22,000 places.
