The Biotropica animal gardens are a French zoological park in the administrative region of Normandy located in the department of Eure, in the leisure base of Léry-Poses, near the city of Val-de-Reuil. It comprises a huge tropical greenhouse of 5,000 m2, as well as an outdoor park, for a total area of 10 hectares. The park hosts approximately 200,000 visitors per year[source insufficient]. In 2017, Biotropica became a temporary member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums. In 2018, he became a permanent member.
History: Created by the owners of the Cerza Zoo, the Biotropica Zoo was opened on 7 September 2012. It changed its name in 2015 to "The Biotropica Animal Gardens" and in the following years it welcomed more and more new species. They thus develop new spaces. An Asian garden inhabited by red pandas, otters, Manchuria cranes and koi carps (2014). A cove in which we find Humboldt penguins, black-necked swans, red-necked erismatures and dragondins (2015).
