site archéologique de Mougon
The archaeological site of Mougon, located in the French commune of Crouzilles en Indre-et-Loire, covers the remains of a secondary agglomeration which is at its peak in Antiquity and whose occupation continues partly in the High Middle Ages according to still unknown modalities. On an area estimated at 30 ha on the shores of Vienna, excavations and prospecting have identified more than 40 potter kilns mainly producing amphoras and jugs, many buildings whose assignment remains to be determined, as well as an old frame consisting of straight-angle crossways; This set seems to be very active in the 1st and 2nd centuries. During the High Middle Ages, a vast necropolis occupied the western part of the site around a church that was remodelled several times in the following centuries.
