Vicus
Ernodurum is a Gallo-Roman vicus (secondary agglomeration), intensively active between the 1st and the 3rd century and whose ancient occupation continues until the end of the 4th century, located in the French commune of Saint-Ambroix, west of the Cher department. Although the site has been inhabited since the Protohistory, it is under the Roman High Empire that the agglomeration develops, although its size remains modest. Its organization and monumental adornment remain to be discovered.
Ernodurum is best known for its necropolis, which has delivered dozens of funeral steles. The inscriptions on these steles provide valuable information on the life in the agglomeration.
