About

The Hotel de Matignon, or simply Matignon, is a private hotel located at 57 rue de Varenne, in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. Having belonged to various aristocratic families, such as the Montmorency, or notables, such as Talleyrand in 1807, it was confiscated and bought by the French State in 1922 and has been, since 1935, the official residence and workplace of the head of the French government. The building has a three-hectare park at the back.

In common language and in the media, "Matignon" means the Prime Minister or his services. Since 9 September 2025, the host is Sébastien Lecornu, Prime Minister.
