Context: The first crossing projects at this site date back to 1930. For many decades, the laying of a bridge has generated debate, particularly among the defenders of Impressionist painter Alfred Sysley who fear a transformation of the landscapes immortalized by him. In 2007, the Inter-Communal Union of Boundage Houses (SIMB), the contractor, re-launched the case. A project was finally presented in the summer of 2010 and a controversy broke out as a dossier of registration of the sites painted by Sisley, including that of Saint-Mammès, was being studied by UNESCO.
