The Courbet Bridge is a metal pedestrian bridge on the Loue in the French commune of Ornans, Doubs, Franche-Comté.
Location: The bridge, located in the centre of the city, connects Gustave Courbet Square to the square of the media library passing over the Loue.
History: The bridge was built following a subscription launched in 1860 by the residents of the Isles-Basses district. It was built in 1863 and received on 1 January 1865. It bears the name of the painter Gustave Courbet who was born in a very close house (now the Courbet Museum). At the end of 2020, in order to repair the damage to the deck, it was the subject of a call for tenders aimed at rebuilding the bridge either in identical terms or in useful width of 2m50. On December 7, 2022, the bridge was reopened to the public after an identical reconstruction.
Description: The initial dimensions of the bridge are 38 metres long and 1.9 metres wide. It consists of metal beams supported by metal poles planted in the bed of the Loue. It is one of the tourist attractions of the city...
