Summit
The Brévent (2,525 meters) is a summit located at the southern end of the Red needles in the Haute-Savoie department. Despite its relatively low altitude, it is very popular for its location above the Arve valley and for the wide panorama it offers on the Mont Blanc massif. It has been accessible by cable car since 1930.
A cable car connects Chamonix-Mont-Blanc to the intermediate station of Planpraz. From there, a cable car reaches the top of the Brévent via a cable without a tower. It is one of the ski areas closest to the centre of Chamonix.
Lake Brévent is below the summit.
