The castle of Aguilar (Aguilar en Occitan) is a castle called "cathare", located about two kilometers east of the village of Tuchan, in the department of Aude. It is a castle probably dating from the 12th century whose construction continues during the 13th and 14th centuries. A feudal castle in the hands of the family of Termes, in the 13th century it became one of the Royal Fortresses of Languedoc. He is a candidate for the UNESCO heritage registration together with the city of Carcassonne, all the Royal Fortresses of Languedoc, the "Five Sons of Carcassonne" of which he is part with the castles of Peyrepertuse, Puilaurens, Quéribus and Termes and also with the castles of Montségur and Lastours.
