viaduc de Pontchaillou
The viaduct of Pontchaillou or viaduc Nord is a railway work of the type of bridge with beams located in Rennes, in the French department of Ille-et-Vilaine in Brittany. He crossed the municipal road located in the enclosure of Pontchaillou hospital. The viaduct was put into service on 15 March 2002 and was taken by trains on the Rennes metro line A.
The total length of the structure is 750 m. Designed by Norman Foster, it consists of two concrete aprons resting on steel batteries, as for its twin the viaduct of the Pottery. It has the peculiarity of having a metro station, Pontchaillou.
In the initial plans of line A, it was to be nearly 2 km long.
