About

The viaduct of the Fountain of Waters is a metal art work that crosses the Argentel valley by the Lamballe to Lison railway line. The site is called "Valley of the Fountain of Waters" with reference to an old mineral water fountain that occupied its bottom. The stream separates the municipalities of Taden and Dinan. The viaduct dominates the bottom of the valley of 35.90 meters. Opened in December 1879, the viaduct was built by Jolly and Fontenoy d'Argenteuil. The structure consists of a metal deck of three spans of length 50, 62 and 50 metres respectively. This construction, linking the two slopes of the Fontaine des Eaux valley, is 169.50 metres long. It is based on abutted batteries and two intermediate batteries constructed of granite (opus incertum type). This viaduct is of the type "bridge with beams in crumbles", the rails are laid on the lower part of the viaduct with countersale above the track.
