Vulcania is a French centre of scientific culture around volcanoism, located in France, in the commune of Saint-Ours-les-Roches, in the Puy-de-Dôme, 15 kilometers northwest of Clermont-Ferrand. Launched in 1994 by Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, the project encountered strong opposition from nature defenders. It is also called the European Volcanism Park. The regional council of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is the owner and its operation is entrusted to the Société d'Economie Mixte (SEM) Volcans.
