La Nef solaire

The Solar Nef is a sundial installed on the edge of the A9 motorway on the resting area of Tavel Nord, in Tavel in the Gard in France. The work, created in 1993, is the result of collaboration between sculptor Odile Mir, astronomer Denis Savoie and engineer Robert Queudot. It is a well-known example of what is sometimes and pejoratively called "autoroute art".
