About

Saint Vincent de Mérignac Church is a former Catholic church, now an exhibition hall, located in the commune of Mérignac, in the Gironde department, France.

The church was built between 1122 and 1131 and is the oldest civil and religious monument in Mérignac. It was built in rubble and covered with frames. The plan includes a nave, completed with a semicircular apse. The latter, framed by two apsidioles appearing on the arms of a transept, is capped, at its cross, of a bell tower shaped square. The apses are constructed in regular apparatus and arched in cul-de-four. The cornices are decorated with carved modillons. The nave is provided with a western gate decorated with three voussures falling on committed columns. The late Gothic additions concern the north side and the vaulted chapel of warheads, which replaces the northern Romanesque apsidiole. The carved models of the bedside are of interest in the context of Romanesque iconography.
