cimetière militaire néerlandais d'Orry-la-Ville
The Dutch Military Cemetery of Orry-la-Ville is a military cemetery of the Second World War located on the territory of the commune of Orry-la-Ville, in the Oise department, France. It is consecrated on 3 May 1958 and houses the burials of one hundred and fourteen Dutch victims of the Second World War, either soldiers or civil resistance. The only Dutch military cemetery in France, it was built in 1958 by the foundation of the Dutch war graves (Oorlogsgraven Stichting), in close collaboration with the French authorities, which offered the land of 5.9 hectares and the portico d'honneur.
Steles are made in the Netherlands. The portico d'honneur contains four commemorative plaques, three of which list the deaths left without burial, including victims of the shipwreck of the Pavon boat, sunk by bombardments near Dunkirk. In the centre of the cemetery, a bronze sculpture by Cor Van Kralingen depicts a falling man.
Each year, a memorial ceremony is organized on 4 May by the Embassy of the Netherlands in France, in cooperation with the municipality of Orry-la-Ville. The routine maintenance of the cemetery is supported...
